So my first pre wedding session of the year takes me back to a familiar wedding venue, Cannon Hall. Based in Barnsley, its situated only a few miles up the road from my studio and its always a hot spot for weddings and pre wedding photo sessions.
This was the first time meeting with Amy and James, as they'd not visited me before booking. I do like to meet up at least once before a couples wedding, so we can get to know each other a little more and feel comfortable with each other.
I arrived in plenty of time and luckily enough we had decent weather. Just a little overcast, but at least it wasn't raining.
I met with Amy and James on the benches at the front of the hall. Its always a great place to meet, as there's plenty of benches and its quite a climb up from the car park.
From first impressions, they were both quite nervous about the session, but most couples are as its a little bit away from the norm. Having a good 10 minute chat beforehand just helps settle the nerves a little.
Then It's on with the session.
Cannon Hall is perfect for weddings and pre wedding sessions, as there are so many beautiful spots for photos. The straight path to the left of the hall is a great starting point as you can get some wider shots and include the trees, as well as some tighter shots up close.
The windows at the back of the hall are also a great opportunity for some photos as they frame the couple quite nicely.
From here we headed down towards the gardens where there are so many options for your photos. In front of the gate to the walled garden, down by the pond, as well as in front of the archway.
By this point Amy and James were really getting into the session and seemed to be feeling more relaxed. Your photos will look a thousand times better if you are feeling more relaxed.
On the walk back down to the cars, we talked about their wedding day, anything they had planned and how they wanted things to go.
They also told me that they were feeling quite nervous about the session. But after having a chat and getting them all relaxed, They really enjoyed the session. They'll now have a great experience in front of the camera and hopefully will feel a lot better about photos on their wedding day.
